Computer Science Undergrad Earns Top Honors in Prestigious Competition–a First for UC San Diego

University of California San Diego computer science and engineering undergraduate Venkataram Sivaram is the first student from the university to receive the prestigious Computing Research Association (CRA) Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Award. He is one of eight standout student researchers recognized by the association this year for demonstrating remarkable research potential in computing.

This New Advanced Method Produces Highly Realistic Simulations of Fluid Dynamics

Computer scientists at the University of California San Diego have developed a groundbreaking method for generating highly realistic computer-generated images of fluid dynamics, in elements such as smoke. This research, conducted by the UC San Diego Center for Visual Computing, was presented at the prestigious SIGGRAPH Asia 2024 conference, where it received a Best Paper Honorable Mention for its contributions to computer graphics and physics-based simulation.
